Cannot Publish to Ipad

Okay! I am total newb to game salad but have been making games as an artist for close to 20 years. I bought a Mac just to use game salad and have been waiting for the new version.
It is out. I have everything installed. I got the provisional profile etc. Got an apple account. I go to publish and get through everything...Game Salad asks me where I want to install the published .app file. I tell it. Then....NOTHING. It never saves the file in there and or gets to the FINISHED tab.
Do I need to use the game salad viewer? I am downloading all 3 gigs of Xcode in a hope this will work.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance
