Confused about publishing?

In the old days we could publish that would make the build for our own iphones for testing etc, looking at the new publishing method, it appears its adding everything to put in into the app store? So how do I make a build for my own iphone, I assumed I added al these details when I submitted the app myself through my own dev account.

We could really do with some clear instructions here!

you mean an adhoc build? i think as long as you have the provisioning profile setup on your machine, that should allow you to choose it when submitting.

but you should use the viewer, it's much easier.

Yes I can use the viewer, but I used to be able to build the app, drag it into itunes and test it on my own iphone. I'm sure the publish method will work the same as before, but I find it odd that it's now asking for which section the game will be in, screenshots and keywords etc as though its going to upload it to the app store direct - a bit worrying?

I'm new to GS, but I was feeling the same way. I've got my app running through the GS viewer, but I wanted to test it outside of the GS viewer running on the phone. And when I hit the publish button it asks for all th app info as though it's going to be submitted to the app store. I'm an unpaid member and want to know if the "publish" button will infact send me a link to an Xcode project, or will it actually publish the app to apple?

Also it's a bit unclear weather or not I'm able to publish under my apple account or if apps built under the free version of GS are published under a GS account and a split in revenue.
