The online system will be going down (forums included) tonight. I'm still working out a few kinks in our new servers, so I can't be more specific yet, but I expect to be down early in the morning (5am CST or so) and the outage is expected to be for no more than 2 hours.

Just another delay with no info why
Gotta be use to by now
Express... $99
Professional... $499
Elite... $1999
Don't burn your previous Pro customers.
...and I don't think it's a good idea to give away iOS development.
Unless your goal is to get popular like Twitter, and then sell out to a buyer, iOS development shouldn't be free. It should be $99 like it was. Why wasn't this discussed with the community before?
i agree with your thoughts, that iOS should have some sort of barrier, but remember, users still have to pay the $99 to apple, and then actually set up their systems to work with it, and that itself is a barrier.

Does the new forum not allow pictures? I've changed the script on these images 5 different ways and they still don't show up
Unlike the protest to GameSalad Direct®, the issues here tonight have not been generally confined to a single thread. I don't see the need to create a single thread to discuss a three-tiered system either. If the GameSalad team thinks they can keep the lights on by giving away the software for free, why should I argue against it?
It's not in my best interest to argue against it either. With iOS publishing available for free, demand for The Unofficial GameSalad Textbook should dramatically increase.
Furthermore, it seems that I saved $1900 by waiting. Hyperlinks and iAds were the two missing features to launch my master plan. While it would be nice to have a custom splash-screen, I don't see it as a requirement.
GameCenter would be useful too, but that wasn't a pro-only feature. Perhaps that's where the money will come from in the future. Get developers into the software with a zero-barrier-entry-point, and then BAM... hit 'em with $499 to get things like iAds, in-app purchases, GameCenter and other cool features. Such a model might be sustainable, but then the GameSalad team should get going on those new features. I imagine a significant amount of cash hit Austin, Texas tonight... as many GameSalad developers were waiting to upgrade to Professional. Even the Apple $99 barrier could be eliminated. I think GameSalad Direct® will return. Good games could be published directly through GameSalad. Perhaps that's the real motivation behind this business model.
What if Bumps and Firemaplegames were published through GameSalad? That's somewhere around $50,000-$100,000 in sales. If GameSalad took a 20% chunk of that, it's $10,000-$20,000... or roughly 100-200 Express subscribers.
Why would anyone publish directly through GameSalad? It seems that they have some clout. I theorized that Bumps might have gotten a bump from the GameSalad team. One day, Utopian Games was about to leave GameSalad development, the next day they've got a featured app and they're a success story.
I've been thinking about this and I think I understand the strategy. There are several ways to make profit with the new business model. It's also a nightmare for their competitors. Why use Corona or Unity when GameSalad is free... and much easier to use?
