Hello everyone!

So we're expecting Gravitrixx to launch on November 22nd (Apple reviewers willing!) and we've got some pics and a new vid (mainly because we had to remove some tiled graphics - boo!!!).

There's also a Touch Arcade thread here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=73296

And we're working on a revamped QS website along with a quick update to Gravitrixx!!!

The launch date also happens to be my 40th Birthday - hurrah!

Thanks for all the support as usual!

Probably will become the biggest game of GS competing with minicannon for the number one spot!

Out of interest in the menu system do you have invisible actors behind the options?

    Cheers

Ahaha - I'm not sure about the second one ;)

I doubt very much it'll sell at all, personally. Not because it's not a good game (I personally love playing it!), but because it doesn't have cute graphics.

Cute graphics sell. Other graphics don't!

That's the truth of the app store!

Still, I'd love to be the exception that proves the rule!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! :D

I still think you spelled the name wrong. Should be "GRAVITRIXXX"... ;-)

Great work, can't wait to play it!

Great work, can't wait to play it!

My colleague Jake actually loves the idea that calling it Gravitrixxx would boost sales!

I've reserved the name, just in case ;)

    Sorry, I missed answering this!

There are actors behind every number - but the whole 1-10 thing is one image - it saves on memory!

    Cheers!

Very nice concept. The music helps a lot to get into the game! Congrats

Yeah - Space tech Defender didn't even break 50 in sales so that's one reason my next one is more "cutesy" to reach a broader audience. Recoup some development costs to keep mak'in games.

I was one of those 50!

    :D

The thing is, I love games that look like Gravitrixx - or your Space Tech Defender - or pixel art games...

But the market for such games is tiny compared to the cute games.

I like cute games as well of course! But my preference is the 'cool' looking games if you will.

The plan is to make both. I still want to satisfy myself, and the few others out there that like these games, but at the same time I have to try and make money these days, so there will be cute stuff as well!

I think both types of games can be fun to make and play, and I wouldn't make something I wasn't proud of or didn't believe in just to make money. At least I don't think I would!

I've got a demo going using Orbz's swinging template that has my logo in it, jumping around. It's very cute, but it's also fun, and I'm enjoying making it!

It look like a cool game. The color of the graphics remind me of Tron.

    Looks great QuantumSheep!
I love the "tron" like menu, gorgeous!

I was thinking the same thing about the Tron look. Once again, I envy you. Also, perfect timing because the Tron stuff is starting to get puzz in the media. Your game is probably going to be mistaken for a tron-like game and maybe sell faster just because of this. I guess you are going to use this to your advantage. Great job quantumsheep.

Well, I'm a massive fan of Tron - since it first came out! I knew there was a sequel coming out (and I'm very much looking forward to it! - looks awesome!) and there was always a plan to have a 'Tron-like' game out before the film arrives.

I'm not trying to con or fool people into buying the game because it looks like Tron - I'm hoping that people that appreciate the aesthetic might enjoy playing the game!

And Jake, there's no need to be envious. You have just started on your great game-making adventure. I've been using GameSalad for over 18 months now, and I have 15 years of experience in the games industry behind me.

All that counts for squat though, because I generally make games I want to make. These don't, in general, sell very well.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this story, but it might help.

At one workplace I was at, we had a Foosball table. A colleague of mine was an absolute genius at it.

I played him every single work day at lunchtime. He would always, and I mean ALWAYS, beat me.

But every day, I got a little bit better. I learned from him, despite being beaten every single day.

Until one fateful day, about six months later, I beat him. The look on his face was awesome! After that, it got progressively harder for him to beat me.

In other words, don't give up, and don't be so down. You *will* get there, and it will be awesome when you do!

    Take it easy!

Thanks for the great example. I never thought of looking at a challenging situation like that before. This has actually encouraged me to see if I can "beat" gamesalad and make the dream game I have made plans for. I feel my current plans are too ambitious for being my first game. But as you said, just because someone is better then you does not mean you can't surprise them and make something even more amazing than someone with years of experience.

I really appreciate the help. I hope other people new to gamesalad read this portion of this post to get encouragement.

That's really an inspiring story. I can simply imagine the look on your colleagues face when you finally beat him.

I, for one, am happy to see another tech (read: non-cartoon) game out there. Best of luck to you :-)

And for the record, I recently dug an original 2-sided TRON movie poster out of my closet -- looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/2fz76yc

Not to mention a bunch of TRON trading cards: http://tinyurl.com/3xo6s4s

    Can't wait til December...

The simple graphics make the great movement and balance look even better.

I, like many, really appreciate you sharing your story. I'm considering giving up but can't stop thinking about new games.

    Cheers

I tried to download the Tron game - not enough space on my iphone!

That's what you get for having too many CAVE shooters on your phone (can you have too many? Probably not!).
