is this too risky to copy?

Hi y'all,
As I have mentioned before, I'm learning and think I'm getting better on drawing; however, I tend to grab ideas/inspiration from various images on the web.

I am in need of some kinda cute crows and made these:
and I recreated them changing minor things:

based on these:

Do you think that I might get in trouble if I go through using my own in my games even though they look similar?

Please advise.

Thanks,
RD

The two birds at top are fine. The two on bottom though would be risky

I don't think so, but don't take my word for it
By the way, how do you post images?

Nah, So long as you replicated them yourselves, it's fine. I wouldn't worry. ;)

@Shpint, you don't think is risky using my copy?
to include images just enter regular html < img src > tag.

@artonskyblue, the difference my top birds is just the beak is grey and the ones on the bottom is a darker orange than the one in question; what do you recommend I change? wing position is off as well on mine.

No offense but you can copy the Mona Lisa with some slight differences but it's still a copy. 30% difference will keep you out of trouble.

Chaser is right. Try and use images you find on the web as reference only. If you don't have the skillset to do it this way, go ahead and 'trace' but change the shape as much as you can and the colours too.

I would just use 'em! after all they can't have copyright on a bird :/

I really wouldn't worry about it....

I'm always dealing with design copyright at work. Your images are sufficiently DIFFERENT.

Also bare in mind that whoever holds the copyright has to see your images first.... which is unlikely. They may assume u purchased their image as a vector and adapted them.... They'd have to check with istockphoto to see if you'd purchased them etc.... An unlikely scenario I think...

And what's to say you didn't create your images before the author of the istock images....

    Be bold ......

    Re: the 'Mona Lisa' argument...

I'll put it this way; if you brought that to an art dealer you couldn't pass it off as the original.. ;-)

Now, I have seen replicas that look better than the reference.
