Hi everyone,
Finally, after months of hard work we are getting closer to launch our fist iPhone / iPod Touch game.
Nightmare Escape is a fast paced - survival action game - challenging and brutal. Built on a simple concept, kill or be killed, the game introduces some great new features that are making the game-play experience unique.
You can see some work in progress here: http://gamesalad.com/forums/topic.php?id=9947
Today we are launching our website where you can read a little more about the game.

Gameplay video and more screenshots will be available at the beginning of November.
Also you can follow us on Twitter and Facebook where we will reveal more about the game.

I wanted you guys to see it first so it will stay only here for a few days and also for this community only an work in progress video that shows all the weapons:
password: nightmare
Since that video was made many things changed, like the legs animation, but the weapons effects are the same and will remains like this.
My only regret is that we had to make the announcement in this troubled time. I really hope that they will clear things up soon.
From the very little we know now, using GameSalad: Direct won't be an option as we want to build our own brand. Also we believe that we are good at marketing and that we don't need a publisher (any publisher). And of course is the problem of sharing the revenue.
Right now we only have Express membership as we planned to buy the Pro when we got closer to release the game. Unfortunately that's no longer possible so we have to make a decision, either we port the game to Corona or Unity with the help of a very skilled programmer, friend of ours or we publish the game with Express and hope for the best.
We put hard work in this game and in this website and I really hope that you guys like it but please if it's anything that you don't let us know, the more honest feedback we get the better game we are going to make.
Many thanks,
Adrian

There has been some talk that current express members will soon have access to all the pro features. The question is will we get those features when we submit with express or only if we submit under the new system. I hopeful that we will get all the pro goodies and be able to use them with our current express memberships.
Time will tell!
Can't wait for this game to come out!

small points to fix like you said the feet have changed and i cant wait to see the enemy however this will be a No1 Hit
Congrats
Keith
About the feet movement in the video, it's already fixed (i noted this in the original post also). Now the feed have more frames (12 i think) so their animation is much more fluid. That's the beauty of having the sources in 3d, you just re-render at a higher frame rate
All the animation and rigging of the characters is done by John, my best friend and animator
Good luck!
My main worry right now are the loading times. Without sound and without the animation foe dying a level loads in 13-15 seconds. That's like forever in the app world and it possible that will surpass 20s after everything is done.
From the little they told us the next update will include blazing fast load times but they didn't specify any release date (like you have on any major software release). I plan to submit the game on mid November and my fear is that the update for GS will be out after a day or week later. If the update will be out a month later I would choose to wait with submitting he game. If the update of GS will come in 4 months I'll try to remove some artwork to shorten the load time and I will release it on schedule, but I'm pretty sure that many will complain. I mean the game will have the GS logo and it will load slow => dissaster
Not having a relase date makes it very hard to plan my next move and shows their lack marketing professionalism. If they want to play in the big league they should act accordingly. Side Fx releases weekly updates to Houdini, their insanely complex 3d application and Autodesk announces the relase date for a new version of their product months earlier.
Btw, how can we get to beta test GS? I'm an Autodesk Xsi beta tester and my wife was a tester in a AAA game company. I would email them but they don't reply back (yodapollo, hello )
Thanks,
Adrian
Can't wait!
ha I made a rhyme!
We are all a little down with morale from the news we got from GS but we are trying to get over it.
The animation looks awesome!!!
And the effects....oh my god
I'll post it here first

I'll let you know if we'll need help with testing the game.

@ReM: I really don't know how well or most likely bad it will run on a3G, our target hardware was from the beginning 3GS +. I'm sure that with no engine we would be able to run our game on a 3G and we didn't want to compromise quality.
But backgrounds so so
Looking forward to the gameplay video!
I'll keep you posted with the evolution of the game!
Only thing missing is maybe one more closer layer of background moving a little to add some depth but, thats fairly petty and would really tax the engine anyways.
I wouldn't be surprised if you do hear a few people say it moves to slow (as far as the walking around).
I hear that a lot on gaming forums and the "action crowd" general demands speed in an action game.
I think it is amazing though. Seeing some great games come out of GS these days!
