10 games how long did you take?

It all depends on what they are and how polished they are and if they strike a nerve with the market. To build 10 games in a month suggests to me that they may be overly simple and lacking depth. But you may still generate some cash...perhaps enough to cover your licensing.

Your first week sales are generally your strongest. If the game is good...then sales will continue at consistent levels. If not...they will drop off sharply.

    Good luck with your release(s).

i have 10 titles in the app store you can easily make a living with this but the games need to be good!

    cheers

You are probably the minority in this, since your games are very good, and well polished. :)

You can have 20 apps in the store and still struggle if only a handful are good, so it's best to focus on a few good apps, than mass quantities, and expect to make money.

If they're junk apps, then expect to make 1-2 a day off each one if that.

Making a living in the app store is far from easy. Its highly competitive and takes a lot of talent and skill. Your apps have to be amazing to sustain a high volume of sales. You need a strong combination of programming ability (thinking logically), fantastic graphics, and captivating gameplay. You also need depth in your game (lots of content), and the concept has to be fresh and unique and strike a nerve with the market.

You have to achieve all of that to sell a game consistently. Its not easy...and may take several tries before you have a game that performs well on the app store. My suggestion is to not quit your day job until you've at least doubled that income in the app store.

My best seller Bumps did very well but only for a short amount of time :( it now sells between 0-10 a day.

Jungle Bug sells 0 a day.

    Bloody Fingers 0-2 a day.

    DropZone 0-1 a week.

BuzzBee 0-1 a week and so on and so on.

I make around £4 a day with 6 games and 1 app so it's very hard to make a living imo.

    Hi Darren,
How much money you made when you took Bumps? Then with the passage of time decreased sales?

    Where does Bumps rank now?

Sorry to hear you aren't making many sales with it; it's a great app.

Don't get me wrong we did well with Bumps but we got lucky with a front page feature and my marketing got us some great press but it wont be like that for every game i can assure you.

Will post some sales for Goo when it's out as i think that will yield a "what to expect" better.

Bumps went out of the rankings a long time ago :)

Overall in a bit over 2 months I have managed to make $7000 which 'aint too bad. Not quite sure it's a living, but it's very nice extra income. However about $5000 of that has been made up by just 2 titles (well 4 if you count the ipad and iphone versions). If you know you can follow trends that are popular or rising in popularity across casual gaming markets then you can make money. With no proper new releases in a while I am still making between $70 and $100 a day.

Dare I ask how much u made during that short spell of success of Bumps?

Congrats on your tenacity by the way. U did well to stay sane during the lean times.

In it's prime it was making $1500 a day, even if it stayed in the top 200 i would be happy but it was short lived and in a few weeks dropped out of the rankings.
