iPod Touch user issue: "...because it is not compatible with this iPod"? Why?

FranzKellerFranzKeller Member Posts: 517
I had a user email me about my app which he bought -

"The application Radarhead 19 was not installed on the iPod "User's Name's iPod"
because it is not compatible with this iPod

He said it was an iPod Touch.

Does this look familiar to anyone?

Does GS support iPod Touch? (That is the older generation of iDevices, right?)

that message comes up if you publish your binary as armv7 only. It will not allow an install on 2G,3G iphones and 1G,2G,3G(8gb) ipod touches.

    Thank you for the info.

I know it does work on 3g because I've seen it, but perhaps not 2g?

It's a shame the app store still let him buy it!
(Even if it's only 1$, I know users get annoyed.)

I checked that ARM7 thinking it would help, after reading things on the forum,
about certain games running slowly... I suspected mine might require too much juice

Could I UN-check it on the next update of Radarhead? Would that solve things?

In the mean time, I guess I should warn people not to buy it for old iPod touches and such...
He posted this on my YouTube demo video, darn it...

Tell him he can get a refund if he emails apple and explains. and you will update your description to warn people until it gets resolved. at least thats what i would do. then he will prob get to have it free when you get it fixed.

    Hi

Shouldn't be able to install it on the iphone 3g either then, was that running through the simulator or a purchased version?

Of course itunes will let you purchase it in the desktop version as people often have several devices synched. For example my itunes account is paired with ipod touch 2G/3G, iphone 3GS and 4. So it would be a real pain if they stopped me downloading apps cos I have a 2g synched. However a pop-up warning at purchase would be useful.

If they try to purchase from the device though it won't let them.

You can uncheck it when you publish the update in GS, that would work fine, yes.

    Okay, good. Thank you!

Now I just have to MAKE an update, and publish it, though I think it will be easier the second time. ;-)
