Resolution Independence. Do i have this right?

I enabled RI and now all my graphics are fuzzy. So, i searched the GS forums for an answer. I just want to make sure i have this correct. So i keep my native files at 72dpi. I double my character size. So, if my character is 32x32 pixels, i create them at 64x64@72dpi. When i am in GS, i click RI. I make sure my characters are 32x32 and if the game is played on the iPhone it will look awesome. Does all of that sound correct?
And if so, does it hold true for the iPad stuff as well?

Sounds about right. Just to clarify, you're actors are size 32x32, but your graphics are at 64x64? This is how it should be...

And I'm pretty sure resolution independence isn't even an option for the iPad. For the time being, if you are working on an iPad app it is just that; an iPad app. No universal apps, etc.

That is correct. But if you stretch your actor to an odd size in the GS editor then it will be blurry again on the standard res devices. Just keep everything at even numbers. Saying that when I used RI I just tested it afterwards and corrected any graphics that seemed overly blurry. That's not a very efficient way for a complicated game, but for the simple one I made it was fine (about 75% of the graphics weren't blurry).

iPad does not need resolution independence at all, in fact don't turn it on as it could cause a problem (I think in 8.9 they stopped you being able to). You simply build at 1024x768.

Also make sure you are saving as 24 bit. I have found that 8Bit originals...especially if they contain text...can become fuzzy.

I thought i read some where you can use your over sized RI iphone graphics as your ipad graphics. Is this not true?

yes you can use them, only when they import to an ipad project they will be at their natural size. So a 64x64 image will import as 64x64. Only thing which you would need to alter is the background to match the ipad resolution.
