Max Vector now FREE, pending v1.2 Update

Hi guys and gals,

I have decided to change Max to free until the 1.2 update is released (which will be soon after the next GS update!).

1.2 will include better performance, onscreen controls and possibly stuff like achievements etc.

    Here's hoping. Would rather have more people playing it than the 1-2 a day I'm getting at the moment. LOL.

    LOL. You should have seen how hard the game was before I had to dumb it down for iPhone. The Mac version is super frantic... and heaps more fun, in my opinion ;-)
  • Just downloaded it's great one comment sometimes the character goes to the bottom right when i have been shooting a bit too vigorously! Maybe not let the character go there :)

    Yeah, it's an issue with the touch controls that I can't seem to fix... seems to be a GS bug. I've gone over the code and there is no reason for it to happen. There is a "trigger" that the ship jumps to and I have set it to not detect the right part of the screen (in fact, the whole are is BEHIND the ship)... sometimes the ship jumps to the fire button though and this SHOULDN'T happen. It only happens if you take your finger off the ship and hit fire, and again, it doesn't happen every time... sometimes it won't do it at all. I'm going to make it so you only hold down the fire button, instead of repeatedly pressing to fire. This will fix it.

    Why don't you make the ship automatically fire, we fire the whole time anyways

    Because in some levels there are things you DON'T want to shoot ;-) It will have autofire, though... you'll just have to keep your thumb on the button.

    Cant you set an position.x limit for the ship?

    @reddotinc - Won't work as the ship is mapped to the tap area, so it overrides that. Also, I do want the player to be able to fly right up to the edge of the screen as you need to in some parts of the asteroid stages. I also think that if I did do that, the problem would still exist, the ship just wouldn't "jump" as far. It's a touch issue.

    LEVEL SKIP!!!!

    By the way, MV has a true to life old-school cheat!

    On the title screen, tap the four corners in a clockwise motion, starting with the top left. You'll hear a "ding" to let you know you've done it correctly. Start the game as normal and you'll see a little "skip" icon on the top right of the screen.

    What are you playing it on? There is some noticeable lag on a 3GS but not too major (perfectly playable) and it's only when firing. It's because I didn't implement multitouch, being a noob. It's being fixed in the update ;-) I've heard it works beautifully on an iPhone 4/iPad, though... don't even bother with a 3G. LOL.

    v1.2 will bring:

    1. Pause.
    2. Better performance.
    3. Onscreen D-Pad

    Future updates will include more levels/power-ups, achievements etc.

    I've decided to finish the game I'm currently working on and then just keep updating the two of them to perfection. Takes less time than building new games from scratch and over time they will be games I can be 100 percent proud of ;-)

    I simply don't have the time to build games from scratch anymore.

    Awesome Game! Love the retro graphics and feel of the game - and the MUSIC! Geez - dem were THE days I'm gonna hum that tune in my head for days... Excellent 5 Star App!

    The next game I'm working on is retro too, more of an early 16-Bit arcade game, though... not as "raw" as max Vector.

    After that, I'm not making any new games from scratch, takes too much time away from my other projects (my actual career).

    I will keep updating my games constantly until they are perfect, though (which will be forever) so I won't be leaving the GS community!
