Anodyne, Work in progress video

Hey guys, heres a small video of my next game Anodyne, a hectic arcadey puzzler type game. Its still in the early stages, but im just wondering what people think. please let me know your impressions of this video.

    Take any inspiration from Asplosion? :)?

    In all honesty I can't really tell what the aim is at all from the video.

    yes, i love that game!!, asplosion, sneezies and lumminies are my main inspiration for this game :), and he video is a bit hectic at the mo, since its still early, but u basically have to lead the bad guys (the purply particle things) into the right position before setting them off to destroy the blue round things that are floating around which one u destroy them send out little particle tail thingys that you have to collect for points, But u cant let the purply dudes touch you or you die, and more and more spawn the longer you take. still working on the overall idea.

    hmm not really theres alot you do differently in it, its still in its basic stages. any ideas to help make it more original is more than welcomed :)

    you should really talk to EastBound before posting this, because the animations and the rest of the art looks VERY similar to Asplosion

    I agree, This just looks like a rip off of asplosion. The design, explosions, everything.

    Coming from someone who's played Asplosion quite a bit, I don't see any specific actors that are the same. The game is similar looking, but it sounds like the gameplay has/will have a unique twist.

    Besides, there are plenty of chain reaction games out there EastBound could have referenced for Asplosion...Taidaken mentioned a few in his post...

    lifted some of his actors? everything in this ive drawn myself, im just using the particle system in gs. anyway the more people say it looks similar to asploshin, the more i can see the reasoning behind such comments, but i didnt make it to rip that off. it was inspiration for it. but im still working on it. does anyone have any suggestions i could use to make it less like asploshin?

    I wouldn't let this negative feedback effect your ideas for this game. Maybe change up the artwork a bit, but as long as your gameplay adds something/anything interesting and different, you are no worse the the guys at Chevrolet that built machines that served the same purpose as the ones that Henry Ford pioneered...that's kinda the point of being a "pioneer" ;-)

    Ive played asploshin, and finished it.but the gameplay is different, you touch the screen and control the green orbthing (working on changing this to a ship or something) a purple orb comes out and chases you around the screen while you are touching the screen to avoid it by moving it around the stage. you press the green button to set off a shockwave from ur orb which can only hit the purple orbs. which then causes that to set off a shockwave, which has to be near the bluefloaties, in order to get them to explode into the points u have to rush around collecting before they disapear and while still avoiding the purple orbs. im pretty sure thats different to asploshin?

    thanks :), tho im taking all feedback into account, if people are getting the wrong idea straight off the back, then improvements are needed . thanks again tho, and the artwork im still designing that

    Cut him some slack. Asplosion wasn't exactly the most creative game ever. No offense to Eastbound as it really is a awesome game. There hardly are even any new games anymore. Maybe you should altar the graphics a bit, but the gameplay seems quite different

    Thanks!, and the graphics im currently using is just a template until i get the overal design down :). ill post another video soon with the final designs in place, hopefully then the gameplay will be a bit more clearer. and i agree asploshin is a awesome game!, i wonder if more levels are comming out for it, cause i think ive done everything possible in that game lol
