Hello. I am testing a game on Fire TV, and when it starts, it freezes the moment it starts (like paused). Then I press the START button and go to the Fire TV menu, then run the game again and it continues without a problem.

I am using Gamesalad on Windows (not the web builder). I have also tried it in the "Touchscreen" section with NONE or default, and selecting "Touchscreen not required", of various combinations, and it doesn't work at all. I select 23 SDK and Fire TV Remote Supported.

I don't know where the fault is. Thanks and sorry for my English.

Hello! My app, Money Marathon, worked very easily publishing it to normal Amazon, Google Play and Apple, but when I created a new "premium version" for Amazon Underground, it FAILED the Amazon tests.

It says "Amazon Underground: Your app has not qualified for Amazon Underground program availability. The reasons for disqualification are:

Does that mean I have to submit a signed apk also or something? It worked simply with a nonsigned one for normal amazon publishing.
Or do I have to ensure IAPs are unchecked in the Android apk builder on GS.com? Any tips? My package name matches the name on amazon.dev site correctly, it just says it will not work on non-amazon devices.

Hi GS,

I was at Unite Melbourne and GCAP (Australia's GDC) this last weekend (absolutely amazing), and I scored myself a Nexus Player and the ASUS Gamepad.

This looks like an awesome device - which basically runs Android games and supports gamepads.

So... this would be perfect for my top down action game, and even some of my past games. I'd love to get them onto the platform ASAP. I assume it's quite similar to the Amazon Fire TV?

My questions are:

Q: Can I publish to it from Game Salad?

Q: Is Game Salad partially or fully ready to publish to the platform? Are there any limitations or gotchas?

Q: Does it support multiple game pads (ie: two players on the one screen)?

Q: Has anyone published a game to the platform yet?

Thanks!

My last thread on converting A Long Way Home to the fireTV while adding gamepad support really helped me keep up the motivation to get it done, so I'm doing the same thing for Obliteration.

Obliteration was made over a few weeks in time for the original iPad launch, and over the years has been ported everywhere. This is the original launch video for the iPad.

Over the years the game has slowly been upgraded: gamecenter was integrated, it was ported to Android/Win8/Nook, and a universal widescreen version was released. This is the current app preview, not much has changed:

I was looking through my back catalog to see if I could port anything else to the FireTV, and 2 games came to mind. Z is for Zombie and Obliteration. I ultimately chose Obliteration because of it's one button gameplay, perfect for people who only have the little remote. I also wanted to give it a proper update for desktop devices.

Over the past week or so I've been hard at work. I had to completely redesign the main menu to support both touch/keyboard/joystick controls. I also redesigned the scoring system, using a custom font to display the current value. I'm testing the waters with iAP on the FireTV, so I had to implement an unlock system so people can play the first 5 levels for free and then be prompted to unlock the remaining 30. Over the past 2 days I've been redoing the detection system. The previous method actually constrained the size of the explosions, and sometimes caused issues with the building pieces themselves. The new method is a hands off approach which should be even more accurate.

Implementing joystick controls has been the hardest on the level select screen. While the look of it has not changed, the entire logic behind it has been rewritten.

No videos of it running on the TV yet, but I tested it out last night and it was awesome. I'll hopefully get one tonight.

Over the years I've ported it to iPhone /Mac / Kindle / Nook / Win8 and now finally it will find it's home on the Fire TV, which in my opinion, is the best presentation of the game by far.

This was originally made for the iPad, so the game was designed with a 4:3 screen ratio, and non retina graphics. A year or so ago i went back and converted the game to Retina graphics. This time I am pulling out all the stops.

Gamepad support

Widescreen

New interface

Tweaked menus

Same great gameplay.

I'm going to add a few more posts about the widescreen conversion, which I think was a pretty cool way of doing it, and another one on the gamepad implementation, but that will come later. For now, here's a few screenshots of the original game, and the a few youtube videos.

Wait until you see the final product. I'm very proud of it

Hey guys,

In brief, this is a joystick test using the Amazon Fire TV game controller. The game being tested is my upcoming iOS game entitled Sleepy Cube.Honestly, I am just a day away from finishing the Fire TV version of this game. Thus far, I have tested the game out on both 40 plus and 55 inch televisions with no problems. The process has been amazingly easy.

Test Video

I still have to tweak my menu system as well as replace the audio. In sum the audio is mono, and not stereo, hence the pour audio quality in the video.Typically, I add mono sound and music files to all of my mobile apps for the sole purpose of optimizing my them.

Lastly, does anyone know how long the review process is for Fire TV Apps?

Thanks for reading my post.

Hi guys! I'm releasing my 2nd game to the Amazon Fire TV. Download it Here: http://www.amazon.com/Mark-Larsen-Parkour-Ninja/dp/B00UIPU9WQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426118686&sr=8-1&keywords=parkour+ninja
It's a pretty fun game, you control the ninja down this maze like world. You can also buy better ninjas with coins that go faster etc. Here are some screenshots.

Hi guys,

In brief, I am having trouble key mapping as my actors are not responsive to my Amazon game controller. I have been able to create a highlight and screen change system using the same techniques that @jonmulcahy used.

However when I try to control my character the controller does nothing when I press buttons on my Amazon game controller.

In light of this, can someone please explain key mapping to me further. Also can you please provide a screen shot or sample code that would show me exactly how to program my game controller?

For example if I wanted the user to press the x button in order for my actor to jump. How would I key map that specifically?

Thank you for your time and help.

The real announcement is in 2-3 weeks from now when I get around to making the gameplay trailer. : ) I will also be making a major update to add the unfinished game modes and level art already in the game. Each character plays very uniquely and differently from each other, so try them out and see which you like best. : )

I'm Not a huge fan of ad's but don't want to set a price to all my games published and many don't have a reason for iAP's. Even if the ad networks would make a couple dollars, it's still better than nothing and has a chance of making some kind of profit. Many of us do this because we love it but we also do it for the business side. With that in mind I feel that this is an important feature to have! @BobD has created the Feature Request. We need all the votes we can get to move it up the chain. Please go and vote. Even if your not currently developing for the Fire TV, you may be in the future and will be wish this feature was implemented!

I remember reading somewhere that having the music as a certain type would cause your app to fail. Was it that you play it as sound or music?

The first game I submitted for Fire TV has music only in the playable part of it, with "music stop" behavior in the menus before and after. Was there any reason to play music as sound like I've read in some threads. {Can't find it in search}
