        <description><![CDATA[<p>I&#39;m making Arabic games and marketing in this part of the world is cheap.</p><p>I&#39;m currently getting around 50 installs per $1 I spent on advertising.</p><p><br /></p><p>Thing is I&#39;m advertising in countries like Jordan, Iraq and Egypt which have very low CPM (about 60k impressions / $1)</p><p><br /></p><p>So</p><p><br /></p><p>Of course I&#39;m not making any money from these countries but their good for downloads and perhaps organic Google Play store installs from neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait where there&#39;s potential for IAPs.</p><p><br /></p><p>for this rate of CPI (0.02&cent;) do you guys think it&#39;s worth it to spend more on advertising in these countries with no IAPs for long term organic downloads??</p>]]>

Anyways, in the last week I received an embarrassing number of emails of people asking quite some money to promote the game on their magazine, blog, youtube channels, or even guaranteeing to be awarded in some important challenges.</p>

<p>The amount of money that they ask is also quite high, 3 zero digits at least....is that normal?<br />
I mean, already the fact that they guarantee an award in important challenges brings me not to submit my game to any of them, everything is pre-organised.</p>

<p>So my question is, should I create a logic that destroys and re-spawns my banner ads every 5 seconds? in other words, are you losing money by having a banner ad just sit there through-out the game instead of creating a logic that restarts the banner ad every 5 seconds or so?</p>

<p>What is the truth behind these banner ads? do you get paid more for having it sit there 1 minute vs. 3 seconds? or does it all equally count as 1 impression at the end? and therefore you should have a logic that restarts these banner ads every 5 seconds because then you'd get 12 impressions in 1 minute vs. 1 impression in 1 minute.</p>

        <description><![CDATA[Hi, if you don't know, especially if you've just started with app-making, there's a simple thing to consider which is obvious but can still take time for "the penny to drop". That is, no matter how good your app is, if no one knows it's there you've a 99.999% chance of hardly any downloads. (Whether you like it or not, you have to compete for attention with approx. 1000 other apps submitted every day (for Apple, at least) which the majority will find their way into the store; not to mention the million+ apps already in the iTunes store.

So marketing is key; but... this can be expensive and a lot of times, there's the chance you'll be pouring money down the drain, so be careful there, especially with PR companies promising you incredible coverage for fifty quid, for example.  

One press release site which seems quite solid - and some people have got good results from - is prmac. ( http://services.prmac.com/pricing/ ) Their services range from free to Extended Distribution ($22.95) and more.

For interest, I'm finally going to start using this company for my three existing apps, as well as the fourth one I'm working on at the moment (and any subsequent apps as well).

Another way to get your app known - again, if you haven't realised, or don't know - is to get a review site to review your app. This way can have a really dramatic effect on your sales especially if you're given a good review from a big site.

There's quite a few lists of review sites floating about so here's just one I found this morning, a blog post called "The Holy Grail List of App Review Sites (100+ and Counting)" which includes a spreadsheet with all of the sites listing + other info, number of Twitter followers to the site, for instance. http://www.appbattleground.com/2013/10/26/best-app-review-sites/

1- You can get reviews for free by giving reviews and earning points. Each point will give you a review.<br />
or<br />
2-You could also pay for reviews.<br />
So far so good...<br />
The problem is that the verification process only requires you to send an screen shot of the game and a screen shot of the review. Some times you end up "getting reviews on the Reviewlancer site" from people that took an screen shot of the review they were going to leave before pressing submit to the app store. Reviews that never made it to the App Store but still depleted your earned points for getting review or your money.<br />
For example Between the 2 apps that I added on the site to get the service, The site shows that I have received 20 reviews but only 10 of those has made it to the app store. And all this was in a period of 1 month and a half.<br />
You can try to reject reviews on the site so they don't deplete your money but the site doesn't respond well all the time and you end up getting charge for reviews that didn't make it to the app store.</p>

<p>I tried to discuss this with them but their answer was that: "they have so many users that its hard for them to remove all the users that don't follow all the process.<br />
I try to contact them via the email they provide but they never responded.<br />
They have a chat but they go offline in the middle of the conversations and without answering you questions.</p>

<p>Conclusion:<br />
Nice concept but needs some work.<br />
If you decide to use this site, just keep in mind that you might not get all the reviews you pay for.<br />
In my personal experience, I received only half of the reviews I payed for.</p>
